Vlad Holiday releases new single + plays SXSW 2019

NYC's indie crooner Vlad Holiday at the beginning of December released new single Artifical Paradise (streaming) and announced official participation in the SXSW 2019 festival. The track is a slow burning ballad that highlights Holiday's expressive tenor, which in this song reaches flirtacious levels of purring that would impress even the horniest of cats. And that's kind of appropriate, since the song is a rather explicit invitation to mind blowing sex (hence the title) based on a plodding, sparse electric arrangement accentuated by a restrained brass section. NYC fans will be able to test Vlad's magnetism in person when he'll perform live at Mercury Lounge on January 29th.

Vlad Holiday releases new track "Like In The Movies"

Romanian-born Vlad Holiday has released his fourth single of 2018, called "Like In The Movies". The dream pop slow jam follows "Children", "Tunnel Vision", and "Obscurity", all of which give an arena rock vibe a' la lost U2 track from the "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" era. Following such a productive year of releases and shows at major NYC venues, there is still no news of a possible album release. However, recent pictures on Vlad's Twitter have shown him writing lyrics on his phone, so more music seems to be on the way. Listen to "Like In The Movies" below. - Will Sisskind

Vlad Holiday brings thoughtful indie-pop to Elsewhere 04.03

New York's indie-pop sensation Vlad Holiday is a force to be reckoned with. Just take his latest single, the ambient and melancholy "Children" - channeling the likes of M. Ward and The National; Holiday waxes nostaglic for simpler days and laments a certain loss of innocence that comes with the territory of growing up. Moreover, Holiday seems to long for the kind of blind optimism that drives so many of us to plunge headlong into life and love, for better or worse. "Lie to me and say goodnight/It'll be all right/Lie and say this world is fine/That we will be all right." Vlad Holiday is playing a release show for his latest single at Elsewhere on April 3rd, with support from Des Rocs and Lip Talk. Listen to "Children" below! - Ethan Ames
