Brothertiger

Weekly Feature: Brothertiger - live at The Deli's Electro CMJ Stage on 10.15

Drawing from a more ambient corner of throwback synthpop than many of his contemporaries, Brothertiger's John Jagos may wrap his melodies in layer upon layer of ethereal textures, but they’re unmistakably present. The Ohio University alumni member possesses an ear for a hook combined with a knack of interlacing his electronic instrumentation in a lush but never overpowering manner. See Brothertiger live with In The Valley Below at The Deli's Electro CMJ Show at The Delancey on 10.16. - Link: Dean Van Nguyen's interview with Brothertiger.

Brothertiger releases single "In Mind" from upcoming LP + plays Pianos

Of all the instruments and effects out there, analog synths and reverbs are the best ones to render sonically this sticky, hazy thing called the NYC summer. These two elements abound in the music of Brooklyn's electro-pop one man project Brothertiger, and, in single "In Mind" (a preview from the upcoming, sophomore full length "Future Splendors"), they conjure up a melancholic, breezy track that's a perfect companion for a slow walk under the scorching sun.

The band is playing Pianos tonight with Tiny Victories.

New to NYC: Brothertiger, live at Bowery Electric on 12.20 with Teeel

John Jagos (a/k/a Brothertiger) is a recent Brooklyn transplant from Athens, OH, where he wrought perfectly connived and joyfully-rendered electropop that drifts from yours speakers like a feather in the wind. “Bossa” is the latest Brothertiger offering, a sexy lo-fi synthpop number that evokes the joy of wanderlust whilst recalling the obtuse electro sound of Washed Out. Though not as fun as last year’s “Be Yourself,” hopefully “Bossa” is just a taste of what Jagos will do now that he’s landed in Hipsterville. See him live at Bowery Electric on December 20 with New Jersey electronica masters Teeel- Brian Chidester
