Crazy Pills

Members of Hite, Crazy Pills, Desert Shark + more play The Hum on 05.22

The Hum doesn't need any introductions (if you don't know what it is, look here). The fourth monthly appointment, scheduled for Monday 22 at Good Room, will feature a diverse line up of artists, including a performence set curated by She Shreds magazine, the rag entirely focused on female guitarists. A wide variety of genres will be represented, from Desert Sharks' garage rock to Arooj Aftab eastern compositions, from the electronic experimentations of Stud1nt to the revival pop of Crazy Pills. We created a compilation featuring most of the of the artists involved in this promising night of collaborative performances curated by LPR Presents, check it out!

Deli Best of NYC 2013 - Open Submission Results for REVIVAL ROCK

We can finally begin to publish the results of the open submissions for our Best of NYC 2013 Poll for Emerging Artists, starting with the Revival Rock category! FYI, all our local branches are running a Year End Poll right now, so check them out in the next 3-4 weeks (only Austin has released some results so far).

Since in NYC we always get hundreds of submissions for this yearly poll, we organize these results by genre. It's the first year that we feature a Revival Rock category (it used to be bundled together with Alt Rock), which includes mostly Garage, Punk and Classic Rock bands.

As always, more than 2 bands deserved to go through to the poll's next phase, but unfortunately we have to put a limit to the band that qualify (we already have too many!). Here we go then:

Total submissions in this category: 13

Artists Qualified to the next stage (Readers' Poll, starting around 01.15):

1. Whiskey Bitches - 8.33
2. Wyldlife - 7.83

Honorable Mentions (scores above 6.5):

SharkmuffinSylvana Joyce & The MomentSwanky TigerWIFEYCrazy Pills.

Jurors: Charise Sowells (Deli Austin), Terra James-Jura (Deli Nashville), Paolo De Gregorio (Deli NYC)

Stay tuned for more results, and then for the final poll - this is just the beginning of a month long process!

NYC bands on the rise: Crazy Pills play Death By Audio on 11.18

If anyone's looking for someone to inherit the trash rock mantle post-Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes, look no further than Crazy Pills. A three-piece with energy to spare, and grit to keep songs like 'There Are Dangers' off debut LP 'Restless' careening slightly off the rails before reaching up to the rafters. In no small part thanks to singer Amanda B.'s combination of punk snarl and high-pitched howl. Hear album opener "Nothing But Love" streaming below. Catch them when they play Death By Audio on Monday, Nov 18th. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)

This band submitted their music for coverage here.
