Delicious Audio Q&A with Howard about inspiration, gear and recording

Howard is a Brooklyn band that plays an atmospheric brand of melodic post-rock (although the band, on their Facebook page, refers to it as “Folktronica”), where gentle textural experiments, synths, samples, varying percussive elements and electric guitars blend effortlessly, guided by the mellow tenor of singer songwriter/producer Howard Feibusch. The band has been active since 2009 in various forms, and lately came to the indie rock audience’s attention through single “Money Can’t Buy,", which early in 2015 gathered more than 2 million plays on Spotify in a matter of weeks. We asked Howard Feibusch a few questions hoping to steal some of his secrets in our Delicious Audio Interview about gear, recording and inspiration.

Howard's 'Money Can't Buy' single gets 2 million plays on Spotify

We have to say, we are pretty friggin' proud of Brooklyn via New England electro folk (or something) quartet Howard. When we first featured them in this blog in November 2014 we were struck right away by their sound and songwriting, which effortlessly blended elements as disparate as jungle and Gregorian chants. A few weeks later they went on to top the Psych/Avant Indie submissions for our Best of NYC Poll for Emerging Artists. A few days before, they had dropped a new single entitled "Money Can't Buy," which since then has gathered a stunning TWO MILLION plays on Spotify. The band recently playd SXSW and landed a deal with a major touring agency, so we are sure they are going to have a fun rest of 2015. Congrats guys!

Orange Television becomes Howard, plays Rockwood on 11.22 + announces full length "Religion."

Today, this song by Brooklyn (via Massachusetts) trio Howard is helping us make this Monday more bearable. We've never really been into Gregorian chants, but the way these guys integrate a melody reminiscent of those religious choirs with their post-rock arrangements is very interesting, rather comforting and totally cool. Kudos are due, in particular considering this is a completely self-produced effort. Howard, previously known as "Orange Television" in its MA version, will be playing Rockwood Music Hall on November 22. Their album "Religion" will be out soon.
