The Lone Bellow

The Lone Bellow releases new EP "The Restless" on 10.19

A new EP from The Lone Bellow is on the way, set for a release on October 19th across all platforms. The Restless already has its title track available to the public, along with a video supporting it. This new EP marks the first where the trio of Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin, and Brian Elmquist perform without a backing band, although they've done such a thing during their live shows to fan and critical acclaim. The band recorded the songs on The Restless in the same way that they perform those sans band songs during their show: One mic, little production, and all of the elements that could impede a clean take fair game. If you hear chairs creaking or wind rustling while listening to "The Restless" or their cover of The National's "Pink Rabbits" -- another single the band's released -- then that's part of the song. The Lone Bellow supports the release of The Restless with their current TRIIIO tour, which includes shows consisting entirely of just the trio singing around a mic; their trail will take them through the Northeast down towards Nashville, where they'll perform three homecoming shows in December. Watch the video for "The Restless" below. - Will Sisskind

The Lone Bellow opens for Brandi Carlile after SXSW (March 22-23)

If it seems like it was only last year when The Lone Bellow was still playing local venues and gathering fans one by one, it's because it was. Nowadays, you're more likely to catch the group on their upcoming national tour, or playing 'You Never Need Nobody' recently on Conan. The folk trio's been everywhere these days, but lucky for you... they still have plenty of upcoming dates in NY to choose from. After what will surely be an exciting SXSW the band will be back in town with two nights at the Beacon Theatre opening for Brandi Carlile on March 22-23. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)

NYC Gospel for your holidays - The Lone Bellow

No matter how cynical a bastard you may be, every once in awhile a little Gospel charm is good for the soul. And for those moments, you needn't look further than the country-fried soul of The Lone Bellow. Whether it's the altar call of 'You Never Need Nobody' (check out the video streaming below) or the hollow shouts in 'Two Sides Of Lonely,' (or even a free download of their new Christmas jam, 'A Little Christmas Cheer') the Brooklyn-based trio plugs into an old tradition of Folk Americana, and brings it to life in a way that should help keep you warm this winter. The debut drops this January 22nd off Descendant Records. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)
