Shaking Through is a Philly based documentary series about the process of recording music as seen through the eyes of today's most promising independent musicians. Their latest episode features two of our favorite NYC artists, both of whom were rewarded with our NYC Record of the Month, although about ten years apart. Luke Temple of Here We Go Magic produced the Big Thief yet unreleased track 'Mother' (streaming below) and... magic was delivered again.

After releasing a lovely, orchestral-ish debut EP in 2014 entitled 'The Guard,' Brooklyn musician Domino Kirke had a life changing encounter with Deli favorite Luke Temple (whose debut album 'Snowbeat' was our NYC record of the month back in 2007, years before he founded his popular band Here We Go Magic). Luke worked on the electronic arrangements of Domino's new songs, which are featured in sophomore EP 'Independent Channel,' released in March of 2015. Temple is now also part of the live band, which you'll have the opportunity to see live tonight (June 1st) at Baby's All Right. Brooklyn psych-folk pioneer Luke Temple (we are still in love with his 2007, pre-Here We Go Magic, grossly overlooked album "Snowbeast"), and Celestial Shore, our cover artist for our recent summer 2013 issue, will share the stage this Columbus Day 10/14 at Le Poisson Rouge. "Otherworldly" seems to be the best way to describe both acts. Celestial Shore, with a more traditional indie-rock instrumentation, dive off into the deep-end with their reckless tempo changes, free form, and spacy palette. Then Luke Temple, who has a new album coming out on 10.15 on Secretly Canadian (preview "Katie" here), will rely on a more traditional song structure, using his imaginative lyrics and arrangements to bring novel sounds to the audience.
