The Morelings

New Music Video: "Before" - The Morelings

The Morelings recently released a new video for “Before,” which is featured on their debut full-length Same Century (Mostly Venus Records/Custom Made Music). Enchanting vocals, meshed with a percussive push and an ominous, foreboding undercurrent, shape the atmospherics. When that spellbinding music combines with the fragmented, glitchy, VHS visual filter, the final outcome shimmers, and the song's full effect is realized. The video (which was directed/edited by Shane Gallagher) will surely get you into the mood for Excursions in Light, a new music, visual, and design showcase, taking place this Saturday, December 9 at PhilaMOCA, where The Morelings will be joined by Hidden Lights, The Silence Kit, and Dead Leaf Echo. New The Morelings LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Same Century, the debut LP from The Morelings, is now available via Mostly Venus Records & Custom Made Music. Co-produced by Matthew William and Jeff Zeigler, the album’s lush, hypnotic qualities develop a magnetizing feel. The inherent warmth of vocals leads one through feathery layers of instrumentation, cultivating a mysteriously inviting dream state. This Friday, October 13, Creep Records will be hosting The Morelings' record release show, where they'll be supported by Madalean Gauze, Remote Control, and Jo Kusy.

The Morelings Opening for Bondage & Discipline at Ortlieb's Dec. 4

Dream-pop duo The Morelings recently shared a sun-kissed, daydream-y music video (below) for their single “Too Far,” which features bassist/vocalist Kedra Caroline wandering the shores of a beach home video style. It's the perfect accompaniment to the hazy track off their debut EP No Sign. You can also catch them live this evening at Ortlieb's opening for The National Rifle expats, Bondage & Discipline, which will be their last show of 2015. However, look out for their first album in the New Year. Also slated on the bill are Mock SunsOrtleib's, 897 N 3rd St., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Bill McThrill

New Track: "Lonesome Tonight" (New Order Cover) - The Morelings

The duo of The Morelings has released a cover of New Order’s “Lonesome Tonight,” which originally appeared on the album Thieves Like Us. While similar in sound, this version utilizes a combination of keys and delicate vocals, conjuring an ethereal sense of calm. The track is featured on VA - Dreams Never End, A Tribute To New Order, a compilation that is available via TBTCI Records. On Thursday, September 24, The Morelings are scheduled to perform on a bill with Dreambook and Living Hour at Johnny Brenda’s. (Photo by Lizzy Schwartz)
