This is a preview of the new Deli charts - we are working on finalizing them by the end of 2013.

New Video: “On the Clouds” – Purples

Here is a new video from eclectic, indie pop outfit Purples. The song, “On the Clouds” is off of their long awaited debut LP, Nancy, which came out just last week. The video features a moppy haired youth slowly drinking an orange soda, with lyrics from the song over-laid and some trippy colored effects to boot.  The song, as well as the rest of the album is available for streaming right HERE

Weekend Warrior, April 4-6

If you’re in the mood to shake your ass tonight and extend last week’s East Coast Beard and Moustache Championships, Night Panther will be kicking off their April residency at Bourbon and Branch with Purples and Nicos Gun. Hailing from Doylestown and fronted by the seductive Farzad Houshiarnejad, Night Panther has been making Philadelphia sexier over the past year, named one of the top bands in The Deli Philly's Best of 2013 Emerging Artists Poll and catching the attention of ABC’s Mixology, who has commissioned the band to song write.  Warm up to the intoxicating hustle of “Fever” and wet your whistle for $1 Narragansett pounders till 10pm, free alcoholic gummies by Rebel Gummies, and drink specials by Sailor Jerry and Art in Age. Bourbon and Branch, 705 N. 2nd Street, 8pm $10,  - Jaime Pannone

New Music Video: "Variations" - Purples

Below is a new music video for "Variations" by Purples (ex-Teeth). In it, you'll find drummer Jonas Oesterle getting quite a workout. We like to imagine that he's training for the Feats of Strength part of Festivus. You'll be able to find "Variations" on the band's upcoming debut album Nancy, due out April Fool's Day. Purples will also be performing this Thursday, March 6 at Kung Fu Necktie with TJ Kong & the Atomic Bomb and Ron Gallo.

New Music Video: "Nancy" - Purples

Purples recently shared a more somber side than we are used to from the ex-Teeth members in their new music video for the title track to their upcoming album entitled Nancy, due out later this year. You can also stream the song and download it for free HERE. The footage was recorded at Laurel Hill Cemetery and features the band's long-haired, mustached guitarist Brian Ashby as its tortured protagonist.

Weekend Warrior, December 27 - 29

So I’ve been really looking forward to attending this weekend’s Weekend Warrior pick. Not only is it a sweet, stacked, locals-only lineup this Saturday with Grandchildren, Night Panther and Purples (ex-Teeth), but it will also take place in my favorite sounding room in Philly, The Boot and Saddle. (Sorry folks, sounds like there might be a new sheriff in town so it might be time for other venues to step up their game.) You should already know how great Grandchildren and Night Panther are live on stage from our anniversary showcases. And older heads (in the know) might still remember how The Teeth helped Philly build its reputation as a “hot” music scene (well, according to Rolling Stone many moons ago) before the floodgates opened. Don’t sleep on this one! You don’t want to leave 2013 like that because I know you’re better than that. The Boot and Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Q.D. Tran
