Brooklyn's Such Hounds releases "I Hate Summer" EP and video

Crazy times at The Deli's Headquarters (because of impending CMJ and Brooklyn Stompbox Exhibit), but we must find 30 seconds to highlight Such Hounds' new release "I Hate Summer" EP and their new video for "Sold My Soul," streaming. Bad news for the guys, since summer doesn't want to end in NYC this year... the EP sounds good though, and that's definitely more important!

Three artists to check out at Cameo tomorrow: Frances Cone, Such Hounds, Yokel & the Heavyweight

Interesting show at Cameo tomorrow (April 4) for those who seek new local, folky music.

Such Hounds (pictured and streaming below) is a rather new Brooklyn based band that plays extremely well crafted rootsy rock'n'roll full of attitude, solid arrangements and memorable choruses - at least that's what we hear in their 3 song debut EP, released in January 2012. Definitely a band with potential.

Yokel and the Heavyweight offer a more intimate and authentic kind of Americana, built on acoustic guitars, meoldies and harmonies referencing old time country, with semi-whispered vocals conveying a mellow, confidential tone to their songs.

We had the pleasure to see Frances Cone live at our unofficial "Hangover Hideout" SXSW show a couple of weeks ago, and we are glad to report that this talented young singer songwriter can definitely sing - we already knew she can write good songs. She released her debut album "Come Back" in February and she's will be headlining this show.

NYC Band to watch: Wailing Storms - live at Legion on 06.03

What started off as a solo project for visual artist Justin Storms in Texas, "Wailin Storms" has evolved into a four piece punk blues band that has played everywhere from London to Baltimore and is now raising the rock'n'roll dead here in Brooklyn. Storms recently teamed up with members from local heavy folk band "Such Hounds" and digitally released a 4 song EP called "Bone Colored Moon." The noises that they've stirred up are gritty, sparse, eerie, and sometimes punk but it still sounds as genuine as a blind bluesman. Upcoming shows: @ Legion, Brooklyn 6/3, Northside Festival, Charleston, Brooklyn 6/14. - (as posted in The Deli's Open Blog - post your band's entries, videos, and Mp3s here). The Deli's NYC Open Blog is powered by The Music Building.
