Boston Calling Lineup Announced, Includes Boston Indie-Rockers Vundabar

Boston Calling Music Festival has announced an impressive lineup for their 2017 event, with Boston indie-rockers Vundabar joining the likes of Tool, Chance the Rapper, and Mumford and Sons.  For those unfamiliar with Vundabar, think high-energy rock with strong, catchy pop sensibilities, while managing to maintain a laid-back vibe.  With a few releases and several cross-country tours under their belt, they are no doubt going to bring that energy in full force to The Harvard Athletic Complex in May.  Click here for full lineup and hit the link below for some quality Vundabar. -Brian Varneke

Vundabar takes on Great Scott on 4.30

Vundabar serves as a breath of fresh air out of the tidal waves of folk and hardcore rock that swamp Boston’s music scene. With indie rock at the core of its DNA, Vundabar infuses pop melodies and jangly guitar riffs to create their infectiously energetic sound. Often times switching up the tempo and rhythm mid-way through a song, these sudden changes of direction give their songs a welcomed air of unpredictability and a sharp edge to dance along on. What Vundabar manages to do wonderfully is probably how they take quiet moments in their songs and blow it up with bursts of jagged electric guitars and ragged vocals seamlessly, shocking you with currents of effervescence. The only thing that rivals their sound is their live performances, so catch them at Great Scott on April 30 and take listen below. - Adriana S Ballester

Vundabar embarks on ambitious U.S. tour

Boston’s Vundabar is surfin’ the USA with its brand of chilled-out summery rock. After a nearly two-month trek in Europe, the guys will kick off their latest tour with a hometown show at Great Scott in Allston tonight, July 22. New Englanders can also check the band out at Modern Gypsy in Manchester, NH, on July 23; Woodbury Music Shop in Woodbury, CT, on July 24; and The Space in Connecticut on August 8. Or, if you happen to find yourself in Brooklyn, peep them alongside Perennial Reel and Morus Alba on July 27 at Muchmore’s. – Jake Reed (@jakejreed)

Vundabar surfs the east coast on new tour

Vundabar is set to make a wave on the east coast when it brings its chilly surf rock on tour.  Starting December 27 in NYC, the Boston locals will be hopping all around, with Massachusetts stops in Allston and Easthampton in addition to shows in Danbury, CT, and Biddeford, ME. There is a heavy surf rock influence in these guys's tunes, and yet a coldness in the vocals that fits this New England winter. Hopefully they are headed your way with this tour – check out the full schedule below. – Paul Talbot
