Wilder Maker

Wilder Maker celebrates new single at Baby's All Right 07.16

On July 19th, Wilder Maker will be taking the stage at Baby’s All Right to celebrate their 7” release, New Streets, with special guests Wilsen and Star Rover. Unveiled back in April, the single features an elegant and silky smooth combination of alt pop, folk, and jazz. Katie Von Schleicher's serene vocals recollect a fun day with friends strolling through Brooklyn, going to parties - and even taking shrooms. The track combines clean and sophisticated chord progressions from Gabriel Birnbaum (also involved in the songwriting) with a sensual incorporation of a tenor sax solo that builds towards an exuberant finale. Check out a live in studio version of the song, below (courtesy thrdcoast.com) and also the other noteworthy single 'Only Child,' streaming underneath. - Pearse Devlin

Wilder Maker unveils groovy summer jam, "New Streets" + plays Rough Trade on 05.06

From the electric guitar hook to the soft, confident, sultry vocals, it is clear that Brooklyn's Wilder Maker has mastered the art of caressing the ear in "New Streets." I am not hesitant to call this one of my favorite new songs- the affectionate, breathy saxophone and the breakout drums exude freshness, turning this song into a real jam. Gabriel Birnbaum has mastered the art of the chill-yet-groovy indie anthem and Katie Von Schleicher's vocals exert peak girl-power and a refined boldness. "New Streets" is on repeat on my playlist, and it should be on yours, too. Catch the band live at Rough Trade on May 6th. - Geena Kloeppel

Brooklyn folk quintet Wilder Maker plays The Bowery Electric tomorrow (9.3)

The past is hard yet holy on Brooklyn folk quintet Wilder Maker's April-released EP, 'Everyday Crimes Against Objects of Desire, Volume II.' Comprised of such guitar-ached tracks as "Relief" and "Liliana" (streaming below), the second part of a trilogy is a tome on the lovelorn moments that have us looking back in smile-faced melancholy. Like the great poet C.K. Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning collection Repair, the album illuminates the profound in the mundane, imbuing seemingly senseless pain with a certain sacredness. Wilder Maker is set to release 'Everyday Crimes Against Objects of Desire, Volume III' on 9.25. In the meantime, the band plays at The Bowery Electric on Thursday, 9.3. – Zach Weg

NYC Alt Folk band on the rise: Wilder Maker plays Baby's All Right on 01.31

We are not sure how old the guys in Brooklyn's roots quintet Wilder Maker are, but they seem to write and perform with maturity beyond their years. The mellow alt folk you'll find in their latest EP "Everyday Crimes Against Objects of Desire, Vol I" is beautifully textured and radiating some kind of wisdom, conveyed by the alternating male and female vocals, which are full of tamed melancholy and emotion. Check out single Zion below and see them at Baby's All Right on January 31.
