Mountains Like Wax release single "Messed Up Your Hair"

Mountains Like Wax have performed and recorded explosive and emotional rock for the last few years; although they haven't released much since their debut EP Tetralogy in 2015, what they have shared with the world has gained them a following and the fuel to keep moving forward. The duo of Mitchell Taylor and Samuel Katz have just released their latest single "Messed Up Your Hair", their third song to drop this year, and one that according to them most accentuates their band's sound. The track begins soft, but builds into a cinematic expression of youthfulness in love and the fickleness of all it. The song has already received repeated play on Nashville stations 102.9 The Buzz and Lightning 100, getting featured spots on both stations. Stay tuned to Mountains Like Wax's social media for upcoming shows; until then, listen to "Messed Up Your Hair" below. - Will Sisskind

New Brian Medlin LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Brian Medlin (Sun Opus, ex-Legendary Divorce) recently shared a new album, entitled Hawks. Produced by and featuring Matt Brasch (of The Wonder Years), the album has a thoughtful, melodic, indie/folk-rock familiarity. Stacked with sincerity, the songs maintain an airy, patient, personal reflection. Sit back or better yet, take a walk and let the merger of Medlin's refined instrumentals and earnest lyrics soak in.

Max Bornstein - Swanky New Solo Tune "Dance Bar"

Max Bornstein is a multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter from Toronto. Max is a member of Toronto indie-rock crew Goodbye Honolulu. He has just released his latest solo single “Dance Bar” last month. This laid back tune has catchy melodies laying nicely with the crystal clear guitars giving the tune a mature feel. It kinda gives me vacation vibes…or maybe it’s just cold here and I’d rather be on a beach right now. Stay tuned for Max’s next solo gig and in the meantime you can see Goodbye Honolulu live on December 15th in Toronto at the Bain Co-Op Community Center. – Kris Gies

Oginalii plays The 5 Spot on 12.05

Emma Hoeflinger of Oginalii has an affinity for Annie Clark; she aspires to be like the mind behind St. Vincent with her fearless guitar riffs and forward-thinking lyrics. She'll take the stage at The 5 Spot on December 5th in order to showcase her and her band's talents on the heels of their debut full-length album Cause and Affection, which drops in April 2019. The band have released three singles in the past few months: "Further In/Out", a feminist banger about rattling society's cages; "No Littering", about freedom of choice; and "Forgotten Kindness", a call to empathy. Oginalii has progressed since 2013 from an acoustic act to a full band electric onslaught of musical might; you can catch them at The 5 Spot on 12/05 to see them in action. Until then, check out "Forgotten Kindness" below. - Will Sisskind
