Don't PASS on this release show!

Last month's Deli Portland Artist of the Month, PASS, is holding the release show for their latest EP off the Portland DIY label Good Cheer Records. Ways Out is five tracks solid worth of a raw vocal delivery and heavy instrumental execution. PASS is sure to bring some ruckus, along with sets from Rod, Alien Boy and labelmates Sabonis, at one of the only bastions left for good music in this city. Anarres Infoshop and Community Space is hosting this all-ages event tomorrow, December 4th, with tickets going for $5. The space is sure pack quickly, so get there before 7pm to stand a chance.

Providence's Edgar Clinks plays The Midway Cafe on 12.2 and AS220 on 12.5

Rebellious, whimsical, literary, and elegiac are some of the hopefully accurate words that come to mind when reflecting on Providence band Edgar Clinks' exhilerating September release, 'Keep Jetty Diving.' Featuring the innocent yet relentless vocals of frontman Joe Guadiana, these genre-melding tracks, from the sweet pop-punk of opener "Tree Culture" to the apparently surf rock-rattled closer "weave roll'd into another dream" (streaming below), curl up on the listener like a dog whose pure affection can't be denied. Edgar Clinks plays at The Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain, MA on 12.2 and at AS220 in Providence, RI on 12.5. - Zach Weg

Buzz Alert! Dilly Dally soars in popularity + plays Horseshoe on 11.27

Four piece grunge band from Toronto Dilly Dally is starting to make a serious buzz. Currently making their way all the way through the USA, they get a brief break back home before heading to Europe in the New Year. I'm diggin' their latest single "Desire" (streaming) from their recently released album "Sore". This track just oozes 90's rock n roll. Basically soft grunge with beautiful atmospheric "ooohs" that would almost make Kim Deal jealous . You can tell they're still just dying to unleash some intense overdrive all over the place. The track "Purple Rage" is a good example of this, showing off a little more anger, although they never lose the tight rhythm and catchy melodies... by the way as I'm writing this I got completely off track while playing the video game on their website... but uhm, regaining some focus... Dilly Dally is doing some cool shit and you can see them live at the Horseshoe on November 27th. - Kris Giles

Step Sisters Bring the Heavy

With the garage rock resurgence in full swing, rock 'n' roll is returning to the days of packed, sweaty house shows, DIY releases and handmade band merch. And I couldn't be happier.

Nashville, particularly the east side, is a hot bed for lo-fi gold, and local psych punk 4-piece Step Sisters are my latest find.

Catchy enough to get stuck in your head and heavy enough to let you know they mean business, Step Sisters are doing grunge right. And their 4-song release, dropped earlier this year, is like smashing a lava lamp and pouring the contents directly into your brain. See for yourself and grab the EP here. -Caroline Bowman
