New Dani in Public EP Available for Streaming & Download

There’s a cool, composed yet emotionally-exposed feeling in Leverage, the new EP from Dani in Public. Seeing things like a fly on the wall, a calm-under-pressure vulnerability smoothly slides these scenes into view. Those engaging, multi-dimensional shots reel you in, and the lo-fi, trance-inducing beats make it easy to cruise through these stream-of-consciousness scenarios.

Songwriter Shlomo Franklin releases new EP on 05.16 at Rockwood Stage 2

Indie-folk singer-songwriter Shlomo Franklin releases his new EP "Don't Love Anybody" on May 16th at Rockwood's Stage 2. Franklin, one of the most active members of the NYC local music scene, tapped once again into his influences of Neil Young and Johnny Cash to produce the record's title track. Released earlier this April, the song highlights Franklin's rugged vocals and acoustic guitar, with other instruments -- keys, bass, strings, drums -- joining in as the desperation in Franklin's voice swells throughout the song. As a love song filled with pining, Franklin makes sure to get the instrumentation and deliver the emotion just right, and he does, making such a delivery of raw fervor and honesty seem easy. Listen to "Don't Love Anybody" below, and head to Rockwood on May 16th to pick up a copy of Franklin's full EP. - Will Sisskind

New Music Video: "Heaven's Away Team" - Vexxed

Thank You Sooo Much, the debut EP from Vexxed, which is comprised of Lucy Stone (DRGN King), Max Steen (Cold Fronts), and Zach Sewall (Grave Goods), is slated for release on May 4. Languishing in a slow-burning, melodic haze, “Heaven’s Away Team,” appears resigned to the inevitable. That pleasant, fading perspective plays into the mystical glow of the accompanying video, with its astronomically doomed serenity.

A Deli Premiere: Geena Kaye releases "In March" single, plays Gold Sounds 04.29

Singer-songwriter Geena Kaye is about to release her first single, called "In March," from her upcoming EP, and we have a premiere for you. The track's title reflects its tone, which evokes images of rainy days in early spring, and that seasonal, impatient and somewhat frustrated desire for the warmer days ahead.  Kaye's soft voice wavering above orchestral arrangements cuts deep with emotion; the thickness of the delivery of her lyrics gives off the sense that everything around her is empty, waiting to become whole again. Kaye, who was raised in Germany listening to everything from Pink Floyd to Carole King, says that in writing the song, she imagined what Joni Mitchell would sound like if she was starting out today.

"In March" shows great promise from Kaye, who'll play Gold Sounds on April 29th. Take a listen to The Deli's premiere of "In March" below. - Will Sisskind
