New Music Video: "Wish We Talked Still" - Hello Shark

Below is a new music video for the single, "Wish We Talked Still," by Hello Shark, a.k.a. Lincoln Halloran. Directed by Free Cake For Every Creature's Katie Bennett, the footage was shot on Super 8 film, casting a reflective, daydream haze over the city of Philadelphia and the video's cast of characters. The sentimental visual and audio coupling makes us long to reconnect with lost loves, though we all know that some things are best buried in the past in the back of our memories. You can find "Wish We Talked Still" on Hello Shark's latest LP, Delicate, out now via Orindal Records. (Photo by Abi Reimold)

Brooklyn’s Julia Weldon recovers from coma, kickstarts third album

Just as her 2013 album Light Is a Ghost was making its way from ear to ear, Julia Weldon fell in a coma shortly after receiving gender-affirming surgery, while she was working on her third album. Luckily, she recovered, and, since then, this high-powered Brooklynite has been back at it with an audience-supported Kickstarter campaign now up and running to fund the recording and production of her long awaited third release. Honest, intense, joyous, and haunting, Julia is finding inspiration in this near-death experience and we are curious to see how she will integrate them in her new songs. Take part in her journey by joining the Kickstarter campaign and coming to see her perform at Rockwood Music Hall on November 2nd, where she’ll give a sneak peak of her latest compositions. - Ashley Muniz

A Deli NYC Halloween video premiere: Sonya Glass - 'Flicker'

Sonya Glass's new video for "Flicker" is the perfect opportunity to get your Halloween off to a spooky start. Well shot and featuring a comprehensible story-line, the video depicts Glass as the vengeful spirit of a haunted house, posessing the souls of all those who enter. Clearly drawing inspiration from horror films and shows like "American Horror Story," Glass and co. do their source material justice. The song matches the quality of the video as well, with Glass's strong vocals driving the track, which lands in an intriguing noir-Americana territory. For those in the mood for something spooky to get them in the right mindset for tonight's Halloween party, there's no need to look any further. — Henry Solotaroff-Webber

Premiere: Mark Nelsen Band - In My Own Defense

Mark Nelsen Band has a new single called In My Own Defense and we're excited to share it with you! We reviewed Mark Nelsen's solo single, Screwball (Change the Weather) two years ago, which is a part of this same collection / album being released. Nonetheless, the songs by Mark Nelsen Band are heavier rock n roll / alternative and bluesy.

"Our newest track 'In My Own Defense' foreshadows the long overdue 'Change The Weather' LP - a collection of heavier, bluesier band recordings from 2012-2015. Finally this album is coming out! This particular song is an upbeat rocker who's remorseful narrator searches for peace of mind under the moonlight. He's unsure why he's guilty and wonders if he really must change. Something like that." - Mark Nelsen

Janelle Kroll releases soulful debut EP 'Outsider'

Janelle Kroll dipped her pen in the wells of a few differnet genres for her new EP Outsider. On the project she mixes elements from synthpop, R&B and neosoul, that, when combined with her noteworthy vocal abilities, form a project that's at once intense and intriguing. We are streaming below second single '24 hrs.' Check out also the EP's closer "Looose," a duet with morgxn featuring a stripped down beat, consisting of just a distorted synth pattern and sleigh bells at first, that allows the pair's vocals and striking lyrics to take center stage. — Henry Solotaroff-Webber, photo by Ennis Chung
