New Track: "Type A" - Control Top

Post-punk trio Control Top just premiered "Type A," the first single from the band's forthcoming debut LP, Covert Contracts, over at Stereogum. The project was founded by vox/bassist Ali Carter, who has recruited drummer Alex Lichtenaur (HIRS) and guitarist Al Creedon (Bleeding RainbowI IM EYE MY), to help her unleash a bit of noise and fury on innocent (and not-so-innocent) bystanders. They'll be kicking off a run of shows with Empath at Space 1026 on Wednesday, March 28, along with punk outfit Dark Thoughts.

New Three Man Cannon LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

The new self-titled album from Three Man Cannon is now available via Lame-O Records. The quartet spins subtle, melodic indie rock/pop that’s personally inviting and earnest. The beauty of that barrier-free storytelling creates a connection, as one becomes immersed in the warmth of the instrumentation, which while pleasantly mellow, escalates at optimal moments, before laying back in a casual stroll that is well called upon. It’s the type of record that grows on you with each additional listen, as you pick up on any number of nuances. You can join Three Man Cannon at their record release show on Sunday, April 15 at Johnny Brenda’s.

DJ Silky Smooth brings self-effacing indie pop to Trans-Pecos 03.22

DJ Silky Smooth is an enigma: a serious musician, he loathes to take himself too seriously. From the beginning of "Loser," the opening track off his 2017 LP Smoothie, DJ Silky Smooth (real name Jacob Schwartz) fearlessly and refreshingly deflates any air of pretentiousness all too commonly felt among musicians. He intones over bright, jaunty synths and chorus-laden guitars: "Have you heard there's this kid at our school who calls himself DJ Silky Smooth? What a fucking loser." The song is tight and intricate, complete with a catchy refrain: "And I know/This is not the way/That we're supposed to feel." The end result of Schwartz's abstruse musical identity is effective: by dispensing with self-importance and keeping the mood light, he lets the music speak for itself - and it speaks volumes. DJ Silky Smooth is playing at Trans-Pecos on March 22nd, alongside Blasteroid, Edgar Clinks ansd Dark Tones. Listen to "Loser" below! - Ethan Ames

New Track: "Fleur" (Feat. Teen Daze) - Instupendo

Aidan Peterson, a.k.a. Instupendo, teams up with Teen Daze for “Fleur,” the second single featured on his forthcoming sophomore EP Faces I Know, which is slated for release on April 3. Gentle vocal harmony marries with the tender touch of keys and percussion in a beautiful fantasy state. A refreshing cascade of sound cleanses the spirit as one begins anew. On Friday March 30, Coda will be hosting Instupendo, who will be there to support Digitalism. You can still enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the show HERE!

FRIGS unveil video for "Solid State" + talk about pedals on Delicious Audio

Toronto's noise rock band FRIGS have been rocking our sonic world big time for the past few weeks. So much so that we decided to put them on the cover of our SXSW 2018 issue of our sister mag The Deli, linked to the recent Austin Stompbox Exhibit. You can read the cover feature here. To complete the circle, we thought that a Q&A with the band's guitarist Duncan Hay Jennings about his guitar pedals was in order - you can find it on our sister blog Delicious Audio.

Check out also this brand new video of single 'Solid State' from the band very well received debut album "Basic Behaviour."
