THE BEST EMERGING INDIE ARTISTS IN 12 US SCENES
Every magazine and website has its own "Year End Best" list, but no other publication has Year End Polls like The Deli's ones, focused on emerging indie artists in the 12 US scenes covered by our publication, and involving a competent jury comprised of local music industry pros who deal with up and coming bands on a daily basis, including: - venue booking agents,- music bloggers, - music journalists - radio personnel - record store staff etc. Read the names of the previous winners on the right column and you'll realize that the poll system we put in place is very efficient in highlighting quality acts. THE POLLS' GOAL
The goal of the poll is to involve local scenemakers (the jury), local music fans (the readers) and Deli writers in choosing the best emerging artists of the previous calendar year from each scene covered by The Deli. TWO WINNERS: COMBINED CHART AND READERS' POLL At the end of the process there will be 2 charts: the more comprehensive one (called Combined Chart) includes votes from Jury, Deli Writers and Readers and elects the local scene's Best Emerging Artists of The Year. The other one (including only the readers' votes) elects The Deli's Readers Best emerging local Artists of the Year. ELIGIBILITY
Only emerging, original local bands who aren't or weren't signed to a major or big independent label can compete. Also, no Jazz, Classical or New Age artists, and no cover bands. This year we'll also put a limit to the number of Facebook friends: 10k. The two other requisites are: 1. The artist must have recordings of their original music available online. 2. The artist must have performed live at least once in 2012.
