Anthony Kapfer is a NYC born musician. He channels the essence of the 1990's Indie rock scene; combining the catchy, lucid melodies of The Eels and the powerful, magnetic sound of The Foo Fighters. Download the album free at AnthonyKapfer.com He began playing music at age 10. He drummed in the first band he joined, Good Grief. They made a name for themselves in the Brooklyn All Ages scene in the early 2000's. After Good Grief, Anthony joined The Nerve! They were signed to Heyday Records and worked with producer Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, who is currently playing guitar in Guns 'N' Roses. After The Nerve! split, Anthony started a band called Kung-Fu Grip, with Ricky Wells (long time musical collaborator from Good Grief). This band allowed Anthony to get out from behind the drums and write and preform his own songs; on recordings he played all instruments. On December 31, 2007, Kung-Fu Grip opened for Local H at Subterranean in Chicago IL. In March 2009, Kung-Fu Grip went on hiatus. Anthony became the drummer for Christian Zucconi's post-Pagoda Williamsburg based band, ALOKE. They were quickly embraced by Brooklyn youth, finally venturing out to SXSW 2009. The summer after the band dissolved, Anthony embarked on a solo career. His album, A Series of Events was released January 2010. Now Anthony plays acoustic venues, as well as rock shows with his band, The Buzz Kill Joys.Performing live at D-Lounge with Patti Rothberg. 7:30pm. $10
Kelli Rudick, Scott Matthew and Redhooker at Littlefield in Brooklyn on September 25th.Virtuosically eclectic multi-instrumentalist Kelli Rudick's live shows are a mix of intricate, experimental and ridiculously complicated compositions from her first release and emotionally driven indie songs with electronic and neoclassical elements from her forthcoming 2nd record.Scott Matthew performs songs that are purely magnetic, that expose an honest beauty and sorrow. Scott has won acclaim through his work on the John Cameron Mitchell film Shortbus and with the band Elva Snow, which he co-founded with ex-Morrissey member Spencer Cobrin.Named for a year of isolation in an industrial quarter of Brooklyn, REDHOOKER includes Stephen Griesgraber, the classically-trained guitarist from Slow Six and formerly of Antony and the Johnsons, whose live sets peak at the juncture of polyphony, experimental minimalism, and improvisation.

Um is named for what singer David Hurwitz calls this era: The Um generation. Rudely awakened from adolescence by 9/11 the last near decade has spawned additional killing, war, lies and political finger pointing on a global level. There has been no reprieve, understanding or peace in this process. It's defining characteristics are fear, guilt and helplessness against the inhumanity. When asked what we stand for in the wake of these years a myriad of unpleasant milestones come to mind and the first words from hesitant lips are a resounding "Um." Um has recorded their first LP titled Rita Hayworth Face and it features appearances by members of Here We Go Magic and Plushgun. You can download it free using the link in this article. Come see Um live with Arms saturday at 9PM at Pianos.

Ladies and Gentlemen, get on the planes! Get on the buses! Get on the boats! The Luxembourg War Machine is assembling as we speak. Now is not the time for idle talk, for the sky looks down without mercy upon this hour: this is the hour for minds and bodies to search for fissures in their foes, and pull apart, with those once idle hands, the precipices of humanity! Radioactive waste is being poured into our child's crib! Do not be the coffin, you take the mast, sail away home!
