Chainwave - new single - free show at Pianos 4/3

Audio: Wrap Me Up (MP4, 0.00mb) Download Now

By: Chainwave Website

Chaiwave came to life in the fall of 2012, formed by the song writing duo of Ian Jacobs (Vocals/Guitar) and Michelle Feliciano (Drums/Vocals). After years of playing in multiple other Brooklyn, NYC based projects, with several US tours and festival dates, Jacobs and Feliciano decided to dive head first into this new musical endeavor with no inhibitions or thoughts of results. The outcome is their own brand of dark, melodic rock and roll, infused with surf and garage undertones, casually referencing The Pixies' catchy embers, Deerhunter's indie dreamscapes and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's chugging earthen grooves. During live performances they come across as kindred musical counterparts, displaying the raw chemistry that years of binding inside the creative process allows. There is an angular energy to Chainwave's music, driving melodies that burst through the most gripping parts of your indie scenery, which is ever present on the band's latest single "Wrap Me Up". A full length album is due out for the summer of 2013.Chainwave plays a free show tomorrow night at Pianos in NYC at 8PM.

Space Funk Big Band MKGO Concert Video Party

Audio: Fist of Fury (MP4, 0.00mb) Download Now

By: The MK Groove Orchestra Website

Brooklyn’s very own 15 piece DIY Space Funk Big band, The MK Groove Orchestra, will be documenting and celebrating 11 years of ear splitting, spine shattering shows in Brooklyn by shooting a live concert video at the very place that started it all, BPM on May 20th 2011. It will be a no cover, BYOB affair and one of the last shows at this iconic Brooklyn loft space before BPM sadly closes it’s doors after many years of throwing great shows. An historic evening not to be missed, the MK Groove Orchestra will be performing two solid sets of it’s core material and saving it to hard drive for posterity. Come be a part of history with us and revel in the music and good vibes.Performer Magazine has this to say about the band: “The MKGO juxtaposes its funk lexicon with Afro-Cuban forms and rhythms and dresses it up with edgy, rock textures. Add seriously well-informed jazz improvisation, a touch of face-melting metal, some bewilderingly complex polyrhythms and an occasional cacophonic freak-out, and you have a group that is impossible to categorically define.” – September 2010

Brooklyn! Night of the White Tiger!

Audio: myspace tracks (MP4, 0.05mb) Download Now

By: Ornery Little Darlings Website

Night of the White TigerOrnery Little Darlings from Chicago and Asa Ransom from Brooklyn invite you all to Night of the White Tiger at House of Yes on Wednesday, April 14th.A glorious evening of spectacle and rock n roll.House of Yes will be turned into a fantasy house with mesmerizing aerial dancing, beautiful set design, eccentric costumes, and live-loud-shake- your-ass-not-fuckin-around-we-are-getting-down music from Ornery Little Darlings and Asa Ransom. The bands have been working with design teams in New York for the last month designing and conceptualizing a live theatrical evening embracing the two bands new ep’s, Ooh La La and The Gold EP, which goes way beyond your traditional bar/club gig. Everything from elaborate set changes to random acts of glory. The evening will be treated with first hand class and trash.Ornery Little Darlings, fronted by Emmi Chen and Jason Ewers, are a new rock n' roll band from Chicago. Like a sexy knife fight in a telephone booth, they have come out of nowhere with their debut record Ooh La La. Produced in Chicago at Kilo Studios by Mitchell Cepaitis, one can best describe their sound as a highly improbable ornery-as-hell-love-child between Billie Holiday and Lou Reed. They have just released the official music video for their single, Run From the Gun. Starting April 1st they will begin a 14 show east coast tour with the Detroit band The Juliets (Office, Freer) among others. They ask you to support local music and art!Since their conception and first performance in June of 2008, Asa Ransom has recorded two EP's, played over 80 shows in NYC and completed over 120 dates on US national tours (including SXSW). They are rapidly finding fans and acclaim through radio play and live appearances on BBC Radio, WFMU NY, FEARLESS MUSIC and in the US and UK press (NME.com, NY Press, SF examiner, LA underground, FlavorPill Chicago, Manchester Music, Losing Today and many more). No small task for a completely independent band in it's 2nd year! The sound of Asa Ransom is difficult to pin down. Their dance-inspired, dramatic style of instrumentation is upbeat and delivered with vibrant intensity. Vocals drift through an epic of phantom sounds and sudden garland. Melodic bass and feral drums rumble under chiming guitar and percussive keyboard, conjuring at once memories of the east and textures of the future. Before Night of the White Tiger, the bands will be performing together at Cameo Gallery on April 13th, during Asa Ransom’s April residency.
